2018 Junior Prince wraps up with a bang

Over 50 entrants attended the Junior Prince Series final at the Whanganui Squash Club on Sunday 29th July, all playing 3 games it was a full on day at the courts.

It was the final of a very competitive 16 week series which saw J graders attending Sunday tournaments all around our district.  Numbers continue to grow each year which is really encouraging for our Junior Squash ranks.  Manawatu-Whanganui-Ruapehu zone has seen a significant rise in their numbers in recent years which comes down to several clubs developing successful Junior programs and the series being a great launching pad into tournaments.

This series is designed to introduce J graders to competitive squash and it has certainly been successful at that, with many attending almost all 16 rounds and battling it out for points.  This years overall winner was Shane England from Dannevirke Squash Club.  Shane attended all 16 events which is a huge commitment not only by Shane but also his Grandad who drove and supported him all the way.  A well deserved win, Shane was the clear leader taking the competition with 112 points which was 27 more than his nearest rival Isla Sweeney on 85 points.  The top eight boys and top eight girls all took home amazing Prince gear thanks to our long time sponsor Prince.  The top 5 each get $100 coaching voucher,s this year two players were tied for 5th so 6 were give out to the following players.

  1. Shane England 112 points
