This year Squash Central decided to trial some changes to the Junior and Masters competitions. Both the Masters and Junior competitions were combined into one massive tournament and age groups were added to the Masters competition alongside the open division. Ohakune Squash Club hosted this competition with support from the Waimarino Squash Club. These changes were a huge success and resulted in a massive turnout from around the country with over 100 entries. Big crews from Turangi Squash Club, Kawaroa Park Squash Club and Whanganui Squash Club travelled to battle it out in Ohakune. The vibe was surprisingly chill and relaxed for such a large and prestigious event and the crowds enjoyed epic nail biter matches as well as some ridiculously long rallies. 

Congratulations to all who participated and in particular all of the title winners. It was awesome to see so many strong junior players battling it out on court. Their behaviour and court etiquette were beyond their years and the improvements made since this time last year is extremely impressive. 

Special mention to the Ohakune Squash Club junior girls for their dominant performance claiming 10 out of 13 awards in the Junior Girls divisions, their hard work and junior programmes are clearly paying off and they are a dominant force in the Central district.
