30th August – Taihape, Junior Prince Series Final
A small group of juniors gathered from across the Central region for the 14th tournament and final of the 2026 Junior Prince Series. The final points from the series were added to the leaderboard and each player's top five tournament results across the series were used to determine the overall winners for the series. Squash Central provided over $1000 worth of Prince products along with coaching vouchers for our top five players and a couple of extra prizes were given out on the day as well. Central Senior Teams Get Competitive in Napier
Our Central men's and women's Senior teams headed to our neighbouring district, Eastern who hosted the New Zealand Inter-district Team's Championships held at Hawke's Bay Squash Rackets Club in Napier to compete for the coveted Senior Team's titles. Day One: Round one saw the men start their campaign against a strong Canterbury team, where they faced some difficult games. Canterbury were just too sharp taking the win 3-1 but with some close matches. The women took on Wellington with some close matches, taking the win 3-1. 23rd August – Inglewood, Junior Prince Series
The second to last tournament of the series saw a trip back to Taranaki with Inglewood Squash Club hosting. The club hosted a 22 entries with a few of the entries coming from first time Prince Tournament players. The day rolled nice and smooth with kids eager to get back on court nice and quick which put everyone on the road to head home by 3pm. 16 August Squashgym (final) – Women’s (E and below) One Day Tournament
Squashgym was the final stop for our Women's E grade and below series with a great turnout of ladies who travelled from across the Central region. It was a busy day with Squashgym also hosting the Junior Prince Series at the same time so for some it was a family day out and an opportunity to catch up with new and old squash friends. Thank you to the Squashgym team for hosting the first and last stops on the series. The intent of the series is to provide an environment for our lower graded players to have an opportunity
16th August – Squashgym, Junior Prince Series
Squashgym was the host to the Prince Series event which doubled as the location of the final of the Women's E grade and below series on a chilly Manawatu day. Twenty entries from as far as Wellington played in this one day event with many regular players competing as well, which means the leaderboard for the series is getting closely contested. Thank you to the Squashgym and helpers for hosting this event and creating a fun environment for our juniors. We have two more tournaments scheduled with Inglewood hosting the next one before the final takes place in Taihape
9th August – Levin, Junior Prince Series
The second half of the series saw Levin Squash Club host the next Prince Series event. A small group of juniors gathered from across the Central region. Tararua Club hosted the second to last Women's E and Below tournament with an enthusiastic turnout on a chilly winters morning. 2nd August – Turangi, Junior Prince Series
Despite a frigid start and icy courts, the latest installment of the Turangi Junior Prince series brought out a small but incredibly keen group of competitors. The draw featured a fantastic mix of talent, bringing together a dedicated van-load of players from Whanganui, a strong local contingent, and a few familiar faces from around the lake. The standout story of the day belonged to Carmen Armstrong; after arriving at the courts just to support, she stepped in to cover a late withdrawal and remarkably went on to win Division 2. 26th July – Whanganui, Junior Prince Series
Whanganui Squash Club welcomed the latest round of the Junior Prince Series on Sunday, 27 July 2027, with 19 Central juniors making the trip to compete in a fantastic day of squash. The club was buzzing with energy as players from across the region battled it out in a series of closely contested matches. Throughout the day, the juniors showcased their determination, sportsmanship, and the skills they have been developing on court, creating a great atmosphere for players, coaches, and supporters alike.
